Meet Peita and Matt
Matt & Peita or ‘The Mad Shuckers’ as most people know them purchased Brighton Oysters (an established Sydney Rock Oyster Farm) in December 2020.
A couple of rookies to the industry but their passion for Oysters and their Community is what keeps them going, even after enduring 3 flood events in their first 18 months of farming.
Matty is a highly experienced Plant Mechanic & Peita is a Training Consultant, both from the Mining Industry but now knowledgeable Oyster Farmers.
And together they are a couple of Mad Shuckers.
Since committing to their sea change they have totally transformed Brighton Oysters into a more sustainable oyster farm to minimise environmental impact and promote the long-term health of the oyster population here in the Manning River Estuary.
By adopting these sustainable practices, they are helping to contribute to the ecological preservation of the Aquaculture Industry.
They are passionate about sharing the culinary delight of what is a Sydney Rock Oyster. Natures most exquisite creation.
